Proposed Bylaws Amendment

2011 Proposed Amendments to the Big Shanty PTA Bylaws
The following amendments will be proposed for approval by the Big Shanty PTA membership at the November 29, 2011 PTA meeting in accordance with our bylaws. These amendments are for review 30 days prior to the meeting.

Amendment #1: To amend Article VI, Section 3 by striking April and inserting March.

Currently reads: Section 3. Officers shall be elected in the month of April.

If adopted, will read: Section 3. Officers shall be elected in the month of March.

Rationale: With Spring Break and CRCT both scheduled in April, it is often difficult to schedule a PTA meeting and election in April as well. An earlier election will also allow new officers more time to transition.

Amendment #2: To amend Article VI, Section 8 by striking April and inserting March.

Currently reads: c. The nominating committee shall nominate an eligible person for each office to be filled and report its nominees at the regular general membership meeting in Aprilat which time additional nominees may be made from the floor.

If adopted, will read: c. The nominating committee shall nominate an eligible person for each office to be filled and report its nominees at the regular general membership meeting in March at which time additional nominees may be made from the floor.
Rationale: With Spring Break and CRCT both scheduled in April, it is often difficult to schedule a PTA meeting and election in April as well. An earlier election will also allow new officers more time to transition. (Note: Must be the same month in #ARTICLE VI: OFFICERS AND THEIR ELECTION, Section 3).

Amendment #3: To amend Article XIII, Section 3 by striking April and inserting March.

Currently reads: Section 3. The election meeting shall be held in April.

If adopted, will read: Section 3. The election meeting shall be held in March.
